OVCFans.com Player Productivity Ratings are a measure of a player's productivity while on the court. It is a simple formula (although slightly modified) that is based on Tendex.
The standard Tendex is measured as: [Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks - Turnovers - Missed Field Goals - Missed Free Throws] / Minutes / Game Pace
The formula used on OVCfans.com does not consider Game Pace and provides slightly more weight for assists, steals, and turnovers.
These ratings are for number junkies and should only entertain you.
However, it is a decent measure of a player's production (mainly offensive) while on the court. As the season progresses, the numbers will become more valid. In no way do these ratings suggest Bob is an overall better basketball player than Joe. It simply provides a measure of productivity.
Players who average 3 minutes or less per game are not included, as well
as other players who go long stints without playing any games, or those who play
in less than a 1/2 of the games.
